Spotlight On: The Woodlands of Texas – Senior Living for Everyone

The Woodlands of Texas senior assisted living community

On the outskirts of Houston, lies a master-planned community called The Woodlands.  This all inclusive development is home to single family houses, both large and small, multiple family dwellings, some of the country’s largest corporations and premiere health care facilities. In addition, The Woodlands is home to several different senior living facilities.

Although they are all independent and unique in their visions, each and every facility has one common goal: to provide optimal care for seniors and adults with special needs.  From subsidized apartments for adults with disabilities to secured memory care centers, the facilities in The Woodlands offer a variety of care choices for residents who have come to call the area home.

The facilities within The Woodlands have the distinct advantage of being a part of community that has embraced the idea of inclusiveness.  They are ideally located near top rated hospitals, minutes from shopping centers and community theaters and surrounded by the beauty that only Texas can offer.

Each facility offers its own unique twist on senior living.  The Autumn Grove Cottage is a small and intimate residential setting dedicated to serving residents with dementia and memory loss.  They only accommodate 16 residents at a time and often refer to themselves as the Bed and Breakfast of the Assisted Living Community.  Autumn Grove is uniquely licenses as an Alzheimer’s/dementia care facility and offers all-inclusive pricing.  Its unique design, specialized activities, nutrition and hydration programs are all designed to help residents maintain a level of independence while receiving the care and assistance they need.

On a larger scale, Silverado Senior Living also offers specialized dementia care.  With access to specially trained staff, 24-hours per day, residents at Silverado can enjoy the fullest spectrum of life.   The facility is dedicated to offering a continuum of care as resident’s progress through the disease, offering family and social support.  In addition, residents can take advantage of on-site physician visits, acute care by the trained staff and restorative care which helps keep residents independently functioning as long as possible.

Meanwhile, the Forum offers resort like living for those looking to retire in style.  Located on 23-acres in a park-like setting, The Forum strives to allow its residents to age in place by transition from independent living to one of the assisted living neighborhoods as their needs change.  According to Tina Allen, director of marketing, they can do this “without having to leave their friends and staff they have grown to love at a time in their life when they may be at their worst health wise.”

The Forum strives to keep its residents active and living a fulfilling life.  Each year, they work with a local elementary school to help young children who are struggling with reading skills.  “I don’t know who gets more out of it the residents of the students.  I know they feel very fulfilled and they truly know they make a difference,” Allen said.  The Forum was listed among Texas’ Top Assisted Living Facilities by Assisted Living Today.

In addition to The Forum, The Woodlands is also home to The Village at The Woodlands Waterway and the Terrace, both large-scale

And for seniors who are just looking for a retirement community, the Conservatory at The Woodlands provides regal living for active seniors.

Choices are abundant in The Woodlands. Every need can been accommodated, it’s just a matter of personal preferences.
